During my c-section, David told the doctors he was a little annoyed at the doctors from the last c-section because they talked about hospital politics during the procedure. So instead, these new doctors discussed television during James's birth. They all liked to watch House and try to figure out what the true diagnosis should be. They were not bothered by the inaccuracies sometimes prevalent in the show. One doc would say, "My favorite episode was...." and the other one would say, "Yeah, I guessed that one right too!"

The assistant to the anesthesiologist sat by my head during the procedure to keep me talking and tell me what was happening and what to expect. It was nice to have that play by play on the body that was being operated on. At one point, after James came out, the asst. told me "They are putting your uterus back in now." I said: "Thank god. I hate when it gets out!"

As they were transporting me from recovery to my hospital cell room where I would spend the next 4+ days, we mentioned to the transporters and nurses that the doctors had discussed House. This raised a second discussion by these hospital personnel of Grey's Anatomy. The people who were pushing my gurney said that real hospital life is not like that. Not so much sex. I said that was a good thing because, still numb from somewhere in the midsection all the way down to my toes, I definitely wasn't in the mood at that second.
I remember saying to the anesthesiologist "I don't feel so good, I think I'm going to pass out". I think you had a better time in there!

Hahaha, you WERE sassy!
I wish I had gotten a play by play. It really worried me not knowing what was happening.
What really bothered ME during my c-section was that the anesthesiologist beforehand had asked me my name, why I was having a c-section,that kind of thing. Now I think he was just making sure I could give informed consent and stuff, but at the time I was like--um, shouldn't he know this stuff already?
That's so funny that they don't get worked up about the inaccuracies. I know I do sometimes!
