I never imagined myself as a person who would terminate a pregnancy, especially after waiting so long to try for children and then having so much trouble conceiving. So much trouble that we ended up using some of the most advanced procedures available, IVF with ICSI. After so many negative pregnancy tests you don't really ever expect to see a positive one.
But there it was, 11 days past retrieval (or if you prefer 11dpo or 11dpr). And when the first trimester passed without a miscarriage, I actually started to get happy. I wore maternity clothes. I smiled a lot. The joy was back.
And then we got our amnio results at 18 weeks pregnant and they revealed that our precious little boy had Trisomy 18. We weren't sure if we would ever be able to get pregnant again, given the trouble we had conceiving at all. But we decided to terminate and we were glad that we had that option. We considered it to be disconnecting our fatally ill son's life support.
Aurelia and Cecily did an exceptional job today of explaining the issues and expressing the emotions around the U.S. Supreme Court's decision this week to uphold a ban on certain types of abortion. If you haven't already been there, please take a look.
Thanks my dear! I'm having such a week...and hey I still have to figure out who to give awards to! Hmmmm...

Thanks for posting that...it's awful that you had to go through it, and it's awful that someone else might not have the choice to terminate as you did.
