Just a quickie here to say that the 8 week ultrasound looked fine. The embryo was still measuring behind. Today was exactly 8 weeks and the embryo was measuring 7w4d, which is 3 days behind. Last time it was measuring 2 days behind. Today the heart rate was 174 and the doc said they like to see it between 120 and 180 now.
But I got the doc to tell me some of the stats from early on in the Trisomy 18 pregnancy. At the 6 week ultrasound that embryo was measuring one day behind. At a 7 week ultrasound it was measuring exactly spot on. At a 9 week ultrasound it was measuring a week behind. I don't remember it exactly that way, but it is reassuring to hear that we don't seem to be on the same kind of trajectory here.
They offered to let me come in for another ultrasound. But we are leaving a week from Friday for our east coast holiday trip, and won't be back until a week before the CVS. I can't believe it's that close already. The holidays fall squarely in the time when it would have been nice to do another ultrasound and early CVS (they can do it starting at 10.5 weeks), but we won't be back yet. So we wait.
Incidentally, for others who are spending their life savings on home pregnancy tests to ensure that everything is still fine with their pregnancies, the doc today told me that they wouldn't be helpful now anyway because the levels of HCG are so high now that it would take a long time for them to drop to the point where they wouldn't show up on the test anymore. They are now a big waste of money and sanity. I will try to heed her good advice here.
Congrats, congrats, weee!

Sounds good - and I'm glad your doctor told you to step away from the pee sticks! Have a good trip East.

My husband and I did a cycle of IVF and I'm now 27 weeks along with twins. Had the same thing happen with one of our embryos...at one point B was over a week behind and now there is only a few oz difference. I too went through almost a case of PT's :o)
Keep up your spirits!
